Practicing Being Texan

Wranglers & a bib for Carmen.

Wranglers & boots for David.

The bib & boots were a present from Uncle John. The boots (real Justins!) won't be fitting much longer!

Justifying the Circles Under My Eyes

Breastfed babies have longer sleep cycles than formula-fed babies, but they are also more easily awakened. Research suggests that this is why breastfed babies are less likely to die from SIDS.

So, when Carmen and David wake up with a silly smile and want to talk at 4am, are there benefits to that, too?

Maybe not important medical ones. But there's something sweet to now and again hearing Carmen babble and giggle in the morning's wee hours, or feeling David's toasty little body wiggle as the two of you settle into the rocking chair to catch a few more winks before sunup.

Carmen slept from 8:30p to 6:00a last night.

Birthday Balloons

Carmen and the Birthday Balloons

For their four-month birthday Carmen and David got to go to the grocery store and bring back four balloons: silver, shiny blue, a honeybee and a dragonfly. We'll play with them until they're all out of air, and then we'll go back to get them filled up again!

A Day for Davey

David didn't really do his naps, today. He had more important things to do, like playing and laughing.

David enjoyed the spinny toy in a big way today!

Quite pleased with himself.

Carmen and the Onesies

From the Weekend: Carmen wonders when I'm going shopping for the next size larger in Onesies. The old ones are a little short.

Look at those cheeks!

Happy Three Months, Again.

Matt pointed out that Carmen and David's adjusted age is three months today (because their due date was 14 February). SO, happy three months again, babies. Can't wait for you to get those naps figured out!

Hold Your Horses!

Hold Your Horses! Davey's beginning his hand-to-mouth phase. After plopping him in his high chair with the horsey, he grabs it by the neck and gives it a good coating of baby slobber. From the way he wiggled his toes, seems that little David is pretty pleased with the result. Poor little thing needs a good wash, now (I'm not talking about the baby). Posted by Hello

Mother's Day

I got a hot meal and warm shower this Mother's Day--exactly what I wanted.

On the bookshelf: I Don't Know How She Does It. How did she do it?

Mother's Day Weekend

David and Carmen kicked off the weekend with a visit to Central Market for provisions. As usual, they enjoyed the attention of lots of shoppers and Central Market employees, especially those who know that David and Carmen are Central Market regulars.

Saturday required a visit to the Midtown Farmer's Market, and our dynamic duo came home that afternoon to a well-deserved nap. Later Carmen finally mastered her raspberry trick. She can stick her tongue out with the best of them, now. She laughed and seemed quite happy with herself.

David models a classic weekend look for a trip to the grocery store -- tee shirt (well, a onesie) and Wranglers. Posted by Hello
